In this case, and specifically to trash your general statement based on a fictional movie, the ally is South Korea. My grandfather fought in the Korean War. So your statement is in my opinion, a s***ty one, and disrespectful to my deceased relative who helped keep the south peaceful against Russia, China, and North Korea. In some ways his death would be beneficial but if he was assassinated they'd probably go crazy and unpredictable which is obviously bad. It'd be a huge mistake to underestimate what they're capable of. Even if they're using sticks and stones an army of over a million can have a devastating affect on wherever they can reach. If they were to just give up and fire everything their estimated 13,000 artillery cannons would do quite a bit of damage, nevermind any potential nukes. Also guerrilla warfare, America didn't do so well against Japan and Vietnam did they, it would be wrong to assume superior technology equals a flawless victory.

If they try anything with their nuclear weapons, there's no way that China would support them. Unless Un is completely deluded, he won't try anything; he likely knows that if he does attempt an attack, North Korea wouldn't be able to stand a counter-attack. Sacrificing himself and his entire country just for a bit of revenge doesn't seem like something he'd do.

There's literally no benefit to attacking another country. If he's smart, he'll try and use this as a way of adding a little seriousness to his threats, though with the reputation North Korea has had over the past few years, people will still laugh at him.

And what do victims of bullying do when they've finally had enough? Considering the control he has over his people it's right to think of it that way if he simply decides screw it lets f***ing attack it would happen, doesn't matter if it would be suicide for them to do it they'd do serious damage and would go through with it. What would be gained is leaving a huge mark on wherever they attacked, most likely South Korea. They could annihilate Seoul in one go with those artillery cannons, that would be enough to shake the world and have people talking about North Korea for decades/centuries. There's no use in looking at it like they're always going to care about personal safety and their own lives.
